Erasmus+

What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. It provides funding and support for organisations to operate projects consistent with its objectives and which encourage European exchange, co-operation and learning. Erasmus+ is funded by the European Union through the contributions of member states, including Ireland. Funding of almost €170 million has been allocated to Ireland for the duration of the programme.Killorglin Community College made a successful Key Action 1 project application in 2016 for staff development. The project, entitled "Whole School Improvement focusing on improving student engagement & achievement by utilizing ICT, social media and team teaching in the STEM subjects" has already helped us to experience best practice across Europe and to collaborate with our partners in Finland, Sweden, Croatia, United Kingdom, Italy and Spain.

We are also involved as partners in Key Action 2 projects based on Science, Cooking, Student Motivation and 'The Student Voice' with partners in Spain, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Netherlands and Finland. Our students have travelled on exchanges and hosted their European friends as an integral element of these projects. The learning that takes place through these projects and mobilities is amazing, developing life skills as well as academic knowledge.
